SUBJECT: External publication spelling of "License"

Recent review of externally distributed KPSAG publications has identified
inconsistent treatment of the words "licence" and "license", particularly
where formal licence names appear alongside New Zealand English prose.

To reduce editorial inconsistency, the Publications Office proposes the
following guidance for all future publications:

    • Use the spelling adopted by the licence itself when reproducing
the formal title of a published licence.

    • Continue to use New Zealand English spelling throughout all other
      KPSAG documentation.

This approach preserves the correct legal names of third-party licences
without requiring broader changes to established editorial style.

No further action is considered necessary.
